How to create a user attribute

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Login to Questera

  • Head over to the Questera and log in with your credentials to see the dashboard

  1. Navigate to ‘Track & Measurements’

  • In the left-hand Nav bar, find Track & Measurements.

  1. Select ‘User Attributes’

  • Under Track & Measurements, click on User Attributes.

  • This will take you to the main User Attributes page, where you’ll see any existing attributes listed.

  1. Click on ‘Add New User Attribute’

  • Look for the "Add User Attribute" button, usually at the top right side of the page.

  • Click it to start creating a new attribute.

  1. Choose Your Attribute Type

  • A pop-up window will appear asking whether you want to create a user attribute based on an event (like a user action) or an independent attribute (a static trait that doesn’t rely on any event).

  • Select the option that fits your needs.

  1. Fill Out the User Attribute Details

  • You’ll now see the Create User Attribute page. Here’s what to fill in:

    • User Attribute Title: Give your attribute a meaningful name (e.g., Loyalty Tier, Preferred Language, or Onboarding Status).

    • Attribute ID: This is a unique identifier for your attribute, used internally (e.g., loyalty_tier or preferred_language).

    • User Attribute Description: Add a short description explaining the purpose of this attribute (e.g., "Tracks the user's loyalty status based on purchases").

  • Data Details:

    • Data Type: Choose the format for this attribute, such as:

      • String (text)

      • Number

      • Boolean (true/false)

      • Date

      • List/Array

  • Default Value: Set a default value for this attribute, which applies if no data is available (e.g., "Basic" for Loyalty Tier, or "English" for Language).

  1. Save and Publish

  • Once you’ve filled out all the details, click Save and Publish to finalize your User Attribute.

  • Your attribute will now be available for use across campaigns, conditions, and user segments.

  1. Manage Your User Attributes

  • Back on the main User Attributes page, you’ll see your newly created attribute listed along with others.

  • If you ever need to remove an attribute, just click on it and select Delete option.
