# Connecting an external data source

This is perfect if your data already lives in other tools and you want it to automatically stay updated in Questera.

**Step-by-Step:**

1. **Log in to Questera**\
   Start by logging in using your credentials. You’ll land on your main dashboard.<br>
2. **Go to the Navigation Bar**\
   Look to the left  and find the main navigation bar.<br>
3. **Click on “Datasets”**\
   This is where all your data lives in Questera.\

4. **Click “Add New Data Source”**\
   On the top-right, you’ll see a button to “Add New Data Source.” Click that.\

5. **Choose Your Dataset Type**\
   You’ll be asked what kind of dataset you're adding—this helps Questera organize and understand your data better. Examples: user, event, Transactions etc.\

6. **Click “Create”**\
   Once you've selected your type, hit the “Create Now” button.<br>
7. **Pick a Popular Source**\
   You’ll now see a list of tools Questera can connect with—like Segment, Mixpanel,snowflake etc. Click on the one you want to integrate.\

8. **Enter Connection Details**\
   You’ll be asked to enter a few required details like an API key, login, or service account—whatever’s needed to connect that specific tool.\
